Mr. Sterns joined SWN Communications as Chief
Technology Officer in March, 2007. In his role, he has
responsibility for technical direction of the company,
including software development and service operations.
Before joining Send Word Now, Mr. Sterns was a
co-founder of ContextWeb, the first real-time
contextualization platform and service for Internet
advertising, where he served for six years as Chief
Technology Officer. He was responsible for building the
company’s technology infrastructure from inception to
more than a billion transactions per month. During his
tenure, he assumed leadership roles in application and
system architecture, technology operations,
professional/consulting services, and intellectual
property.
Prior to starting ContextWeb, Mr. Sterns was an
architect and project manager at Sapient implementing a
variety of technology solutions for financial services
clients, such as JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and Merrill
Lynch. Before Sapient, Mr. Sterns was at Microsoft, in
research and development of early versions of the
Encarta and WebTV products.
Mr. Sterns received a BA in Computer Science and
Philosophy from Brown University.
