SWN Weather Service

As severe weather is becoming more frequent across the United States, organizations are concerned about getting up-to-date weather conditions and, more importantly, alerting anyone in harm’s way in advance of a serious threat. SWN Weather Services, in combination with SWN Alert Service, ensures more effective communication and coordination during times of dangerous weather conditions to help protect people and property.

Compared to traditional zip-code based alerts that rely upon airport data that can be up to an hour old and based on observations many miles away, SWN Weather Services utilizes the live, streaming weather information from 8,000 WeatherBug Tracking Stations in the U.S, the USPLN lightning network and the National Weather Service to plot the current weather condition on a 5km (3.2 miles) grid.

In addition, SWN Weather Services provides the ability to:

• Match standard or customized weather alerts to each subscriber’s specific location and
  weather profile.
  
• Use cellular Location-Based Technology (LBS) to match weather conditions with each
  recipient’s current location.
  
• Support fully customized weather thresholds based on the organization’s preferences.
  
• Use two-way communications to allow organizations to check the status of each recipient.
